Here at Bright Line Eating™, we don’t believe there’s a “one size fits all” approach to eating and weight loss, because while most foods today are highly addictive, not everyone is equally affected. Knowing your susceptibility to addictive foods will empower you to find the right program for you, and that’s why Susan created the Susceptibility Quiz—discovering your score on this Scale is the first step on the path to living Happy, Thin, and Free™.
Susan was born and raised in San Francisco, California. She was a bright, inquisitive, active child who started dieting at the age of 12, beginning a struggle with weight that would continue for decades.
What was most baffling to Susan was that she had achieved success in every other area of her life. She got clean and sober from drug addiction. She ran marathons. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley summa cum laude with a degree in Cognitive Science, earned her Ph.D., and completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Australia.
But despite knowing everything there was to know about brain science, food, and weight, Susan still couldn’t solve her own weight problem…until 2003. It was then that she learned a method for getting slender and staying slender. Ever since, she’s been researching the psychology and neuroscience of sustainable weight loss and helping thousands of people to lose all their excess weight and keep it off forever.
After completing her education, Susan landed in Rochester, New York, accepting a tenure-track position as a professor in the Psychology Department at Monroe Community College. The course Susan taught there, The Psychology of Eating and Body Image Disorders, was wildly popular. But she knew she was called to do more.
Bright Line Eating™ began as an awareness in Susan’s deepest meditation…a calling to take what she was teaching in her college course, along with her years of experience helping people one-on-one, and share it with the masses in the form of a book. Little did she know that the idea to write a book would ultimately take shape as the growing, thriving Bright Line Eating™ community that exists today.
