Sooo glad you finally realized that you have to take care of yourself before you’re able to adequately take care of anyone else! (This is actually inherent in the Second Commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” [Matthew 22:39], because if you don’t learn how to adequately love and take care of yourself, you won’t know how to love and take care of others!

There’s a reason for no taste of food: Lack of taste can be the body’s way of saying “Need to fast to heal!” So, it’s OK NOT to eat as much, or as often. Consider it intermittent fasting. By allowing fasting, it can make it easier for the body to heal, because the body is not so busy digesting food. Per medical people I’m in touch with, they say “As for which food supports Covid recovery: animal protein and green is best! No to anything that is sugar making including fruit and low fiber carbs. ” Allow the healing!

I am currently 10 days post op from Right Total Knee Replacement surgery. Every meal in the hospital totally bright. Same as now. Like you said in this blog, your 3 Bright meals/day is your anchor , COVID Or NO COVID, knee replacement or no knee replacement.

Love Ya Susan. You have an “army” of strong warriors here praying for your recovery. Do what you need to heal.
Susan, you take care of yourself! Be patient with the healing process; COVID can wax and wane in its symptoms. Sleep on your belly if you can. I recommend getting a pulse oximeter to keep track of your oxygen. Im guessing you will get through this just fine but it will take some time. I am sending you lots of thoughts of recovery and love. Thank you for all you do!!!
The pulse oximeter is a great idea, but sleeping on your tummy is one of the worse things you can do for your body.
It not only compresses the lungs but also your diaphragm which helps you breath. It is terrible for your spine and shoulders.
People that I know who have breathing problem say sleeping in a recliner helps.
And yet people in ICU who were struggling to survive (my friend included who is morbidly obese) were flipped on their tummies with a ventilator in place to reduce the pressure on the lungs etc. My friend survived 31 days in ICU followed by rehab and is now living as good a life as possible even though her husband, her father in law and a close friend all died of Covid while she was on a ventilator. The horror stories abound.
You are right they did find that putting folks on ventilators on their stomachs did help. But breathing with a ventilator is not the same as breathing on your own.
I can really see how it would help someone who was morbidly obese breath better. Sleeping on your stomach is still bad for your neck and spine. COVID is bad enough without a sore neck and back.

Something we both have in common is that we spent some time in Body For Life and it’s one of the few books I have around since I like the exercise part but Bill Phillips never helped or understood my sick food brain. Anyways, a few months ago Bill almost died! Seriously, he was on a ventilator and they gave him like 1% chance of living. He HAS bounced back, or almost back and it’s changed his perspective on life.
Anyways- I will keep you in my prayers. Glad that you’re giving yourself time to heal.

Go take good care of yourself- remember this too shall pass and the maintenance course when it comes will be at the right time and even better than before .
