Three Things that Matter More than Your Goals

Happy New Year!!! I just shot the vlog this afternoon because I wanted to give you a timely message as you take your first steps into the new decade. Watch now to hear it.

I’M READY TO START MY JOURNEY

Thank you Susan. I’m sorry but I don’t have any other words for it. This vlog touched me and I just had to say thank you. I signed up for the Reboot Rezoom program and I am excited to get started on the 6th but I also have been having a tough time with the 1st of January, new decade thing. So I’m glad the RBRZ starts Monday the 6th. I believe I will be ready then. Love you

Happy New Year. Wishing you all a bright line year, whatever stage that you’re at. Thank you to Susan and her band of wonderful people. It took a while for me to believe that these vlogs come from a place of sincerity but that’s more about me and my feelings towards my eating than the actual content of the vlogs. I’m grateful that BLE is around!

This Vlog really hit home for me. Ironically, I started Brightline Eating on January 12 2017, which I learned from this Vlog is apparently the date most people get off track from a new year’s resolution. I have been about 15 pounds from my goal weight for well over a year and stuck in a sort of maintenance/coast mode. I recently started inching back up, which prompted me to sign up for Rezoom. This Vlog helped me realize how I need to take the daily steps and make a commitment so that I can change my identity, which I so desperately want to do. So thank you for this first Vlog of the new Century.

I’m in a similar place with not being able to do maintenance! 15 to 20 pounds over most of the last two years!

Me too. I am so pleased that you have written this and that I am not alone. I have not been able to get past the last 10+ lbs to goal weight. I am both embarrassed and ashamed of it and so I have not sought support. I have joined RBRZ and commit to getting support this time. I also commit to a change of identity which I can see will be a considerable challenge – something I had underestimated. Perhaps there may be a group of us in this category?
I am so grateful for Susan. xx

Karen, Helen, Elizabeth… In Reboot Rezoom you’ll be experiencing the PERFECT BONUS for you: Everett Considine’s “Finish Line Anxiety Masterclass.” You are SO SO SO SO SOOOOOOO not alone. Getting into an “Almost-BLE Trance” and hovering above goal weight is such a THING. You’ve got this! And we’ve got you covered! Everett and I have been talking about this so much. We can’t wait to support you.

Thank you for your comment Karen. I’m exactly where you are!! Susan’s vlog had me crying because it’s like she was speaking directly to me. I joined the boot camp last May or June and never really committed to it or even finished it. I now signed up for it again yesterday but I’m struggling with the commitment to it. I don’t know why because I know this process works. I too am going to journal what steps I need to take to make some daily changes. I wish you the best in 2020. I wish that for all of us.

    I LOVE YOU
On 01-01-2020 at midnight, a friend, Sarah and I blew our noise makers ans danced with our chihuahuas; hers is Cookie and mine is Butch the Bully Choppers.
As a newbie joiner BLEr, this evening, I stood in front of the fridge – knowing – “No sabotage,” I said to myself. “ I already ate.”

Happy New Year! Susan, I felt like this whole video just spoke to me. You have an ability to connect to people through words- you make them feel like their emotions are valid. I have been struggling for the past decade with weight. I am ready to commit, change my identity, and show up real. I just cannot thank you enough, you are a wonderful person. Thank you!

Wow, I haven’t yet signed up for the boot camp, and I think your Vlog tells me why I have been so hesitant – commitment and identity change are terrifying things! But I can see that they may also be the only thing that will save a person from their self-destructive ways.

My commitment is to be in harmony with my self and my world. For me that means letting go and allowing my self to allow my experience to be however it is and to allow everyone else to be however you all are. I realize we all have patterns of behavior that we want to change and our starting place is right where we are, and how we are, in each moment, with all our feelings, thoughts and sensations, and accepting all of us is the starting point for any real change in our patterns. So I commit to accepting my self and allowing all of me to be exactly the way I am and accepting all of you exactly the way you are. Blessings on us all.

Happy New Year, Susan & BLE tribe! This vlog resonated with me too. I couldn’t help but reflect on where I was at this time last year, going through the “getting started” checklist phase before my day 1 of boot camp on Jan 11th, 2019. I had watched the weekly vlogs for almost a year and it truly took that much time until I was really ready to make a real change. I went through all kinds of bargaining with myself as I learned about BLE and considered whether or not I should give it a try, thoughts that I am sure others have had too like, “I don’t think I can give up sugar and flour forever,” or “I will try BLE but with this and that exception,” or “I will try BLE but I read the book and will try it on my own because it is too costly,” etc. After a year of consideration and mental gymnastics, I was ready and believed, “I could give up sugar and flour for today, “ and since there are no BLE police, “I can make the program what I need but I need to ask myself the 4 questions and be honest with myself if the “exceptions” are coming from my “sabby” or not, and as I better understood my Isolator part, I realized that my best chance of success would come from committing to BLE and taking advantage of the support this complete program offered. So, I am so grateful for BLE and what I have learned about myself as well as for the scale victory (63 pounds lost thus far) and numerous non-scale victories since I began my BLE journey.

I have never been a goal setter. Never really learned how to set a goal. Love, love, the whole process, the structure, to achieve the goal. I’m writing the process down now. I’m on day 3. of BLE I will make it past 1/12/20 because I am implementing a more structured process of morning prayer and committing to watching the modules and posting and really working the process. Thank you, Susan. Happy New Year to you.

Firstly, best wishes to you and your family for 2020 Susan. Secondly, I would like to thank you for not only putting out these vlogs and many numerous other courses and short videos, but for always asking the viewer if they are truly ready. And if not, that is okay. I recently undertook the 14 day challenge and then signed up for the boot camp. Along the journey was able to connect with two fabulous BLE’s members so we have our own local group. I then watched your Reboot/ Rezoom and signed up for the course. However, along the way and further to these videos, I realised that you also challenged us to really look back at ourselves and realised that I was not ready for Reboot/ Rezoom, but rather needed to focus on the boot camp material and my support system. I have since cancelled off, and plan to revisit boot camp. Maybe soon I’ll be ready for Rezoom/ Reboot, may be not, but I appreciate you approach which allows for all of us and our own journeys. That is one of the many reasons why this is such a successful program. Thank you Susan.

Happy New Year! This Vlog was very insightful and helpful. Thank you! It has reinforced my thoughts moving into 2020 but added the missing piece. In committing to my BLE commitment to myself, acknowledging that this means a journey filled with hurdles, slip ups and tripping over my own feet as I will be facing physical, emotional, mental and perhaps spiritual challenges. Some which I had touched on after completing Bootcamp before signing up as a bright lifer….
After listening to your words of wisdom…..hmmm My new identity as a Bright Lifer – check1 🙂 using the BLE process that to strengthen my new habits to get my food straighten out. Check 2 🙂But ..Show up Real…..wow! Yes! Exactly the missing piece I needed to hear and to take with me to heart as I move forward…. this is MY BLE journey that I am embarking on in 2020. Thus my real self needs to be open and honest during this adventure. Check 3 🙂. I am ready to roll 👍Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!

Susan, I’m sorry you are going through such anguish over caffeine. I gave it up myself a few months ago and went through a few days in bunny slippers due to headaches. I now enjoy a nice cup of decaf every so often. Maybe try that? Or switch to green tea? Tomorrow is a new day! 🥰

Susan, Wow, what an unexpected new year this is becoming for me as I continue to follow your vlogs, your videos, and jumping back into the bright lifers and rezoom class. I have felt like I have been through some professional therapy sessions already just by following you and delving into the rezoom program and bonuses. I was in a quandary on how to face the new year since I had choices to push my self to add a new exercise program with a supported online group , or continue to be committed to a trainer at the gym and then somehow try to focus on my food plan by using the new BLE cookbook. As soon as my eyes teared up as I listened to the pitch with rezoom video 4 I knew it was my signal to jump in and start re working on myself in BLE community again. I am happy to learn that BLE has come so far since I took my first bootcamp class in 2015 , 1 and 1/2 years of bright lifers and one 14 days challenge. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to your movement and now taking it to a new level that will affect medical school practices going forward. Bravo!

Have ALWAYS found your vlogs interesting and useful. Though I am not a joiner I have made good use of your instruction. I would suggest that the different responses to your vlogs (emotional vs. scientific based) is due more to the fact that people are moved to empathy by your struggles and reach out to offer solace, not that the more scientific ones don’t resonate. The more scientific information is gratefully received but doesn’t necessarily elicit emotional reciprocation.

Though I am still working on my relationship with food, coffee is not my problem, but I cannot be around anything grain based, nor chocolate – unless it’s a cup of cocoa with a tablespoon of milk and stevia. I have lost about 50 pounds since 1995 and kept it off, largely through stubbornness and instruction. What works for me in BLE I have adopted, with gratitude. Decided after watching your presentation on the sauna, to purchase a Sunlighten, which has arrived and is awaiting assembly. That should help with detox and the last five or so pounds. Thanks bunches!

Nice Vlog! Being Real! Doing the steps! I have been so discombobulated, finding this program and knowing it works, in my gut. I’ve been following since September! Boy, have all the weight issues of my 63 years come forth! Thank you for the access to so much information as I haven’t the means to buy in and will be out of web access for ten days in February. Yet, I’ve finally got on target for the food and am now just releasing five pounds. Haven’t been in the 170’s since the seventies! I’ve only been under two hundred a few years. With your encouragement, I finally can see living in my right sized body and live in physical freedom of movement and be where I want to be and have the energy to do beautiful things, like hike all day, or swim like a fish,; glide through the water with minimal ballast! I so want to live real on this planet and enjoy the privelege of noticing all the many wonders nature provides. Finding that accountability partner is what’s up next!

I signed up for Reboot Rezoom and intended to get started on January 1st. When I found out that you planned to present the first video on Monday, January 6th I was disappointed. (What was I going to do on January 1st? 2nd? 3rd? etc. How can I launch 2020 perfectly with my BLE if I don’t get my first video until the 6th?) Listening to today’s vlog reminds me of the real goal I have … to get started with the messiness of this project. It’s the part I’ve avoided throughout the bootcamp and as I’ve journeyed with my fellow bright lifers. I’m scared to expose my messiness, and at the same time I understand that it’s my next step. So here we go. Bring it on. Thanks.

I am so excited to start Reboot Rezoom. I have strayed from the BLE road for a little over a year. I don’t think I’ve been “in the ditch.” Rather, I have been slogging through the thick grass right between the road and the ditch. During that time, I have changed my identity in profound ways that have brought me peace. I have committed to systems and have become a non-drinker and daily meditator. In my heart, I know I am ready to surrender to the BLE system completely now. Thank you, Susan, for all of your wisdom, inspiration- and humor.

I was very moved by this vlog and the tears were flowing. It touched my soul in ways I did not even realize it needed. I have not been real with myself. I lost 80 pounds with BLE and for the first time in 40 years I was back at my college weight and I liked the person I was. I liked the person looking back in the mirror. I am only 5’1″ and I could not get the hang of maintenance. Any food I added put weight back on me. That slowly led to bad habits and a slow weight regain. I have put back on 30 pounds and again, I do not recognize myself. Susan’s Reboot Rezoom vlogs helped me recognize I had put my medication and journaling to the side and the loss of those habits put my food in jeopardy. I have recommitted to bright lines and have now had 7 consecutive days of perfect lines. I will now step into the identity of a person that does not make exceptions with my food. Thank you for all you do!

Thank you, Susan, for showing and being real. I love you, your family and BLE team! I signed up for RBRZ 2.0. I did it last year even though I never dropped into the Danger and Destruction Zone during BC in Fall 2018. I told myself all along during BC, “I’ve got this. It is easy peasy.” It was easy for me. I am so lucky that I’m one of those BLE people whose identity shifted as soon as I understood the science of my addicted brain. It was instantaneous and incredible. I have above the Danger and Destruction Zone since I started BC on 9/23/2018. I still took RBRZ anyway. I love to lend support and a sympathetic ear to anyone who reaches out to me. I learn so much from helping others and it buoys my soul and keeps me from ever straying from my Bright Lines. I love to learn and keep the science coming. See you in RBRZ 2.0 and having 2020 vision this year.

Either Susan has changed, or I have changed. Lately I fin myself nodding in agreement to nearly everything Susan says. That hasn’t always been the case. Once in awhile I doubted her knowledge or her sincerity. BLE seemed commercial; Susan a salesperson. Something is different now. I am happy about that. Maybe the skeptic in me needed time. Maybe Susan needed time to become better at talking directly to strugglers like me. I don’t need to identify what changed. Just know that the change was good.

Thank you so much for the moving VLOG, you have changed the way I will write my goals for 2020. You truly have had a broad impact by sharing your story, life and systems. I am not a BLE but I learn and watch your year end videos and have your book. For most of my adult life I have been able to manage my weight. Now I am using fasting techniques that I have learned from Dr. Jason Fung’s books The Obesity Code and The complete guide to fasting. There is also the Diabetes Code. The website for the material is called thefastingmethod.com
Fasting speaks to me and I was familiar with people who fast for religious and health reasons before I started. The autophogy aspect is amazing for me.
I have meditated daily for over 5 years and I am so pleased that you include that aspect in your program. My meditation is based on a Chinese medicine teacher who is also a western medicine MD, that we are so lucky to have here in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. His name is Dr. Stephen Aung and he organizes a free qi Gong medication group that I am now a volunteer leader in.
Another great book to get exposed to is The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Tiecholz.
Perhaps you are familiar with Nina and Dr. Fung’s work already, sorry to be so bold as to suggest what might be helpful to you. Congratulations on your work in raising the funding to have the nutrition questions written for the medical schools to choose from. That was a huge achievement in 2019.

I am sure you are as you say exhausted with 3 young children and the big push to catch people to commit to learning your amazing system in the New Year. This is your time to do some self cultivation and rest. Perhaps that will be when your programs launch.
Thank you so much for the work you have done and will continue to do.
Wishing you and your family health and happiness in 2020.
Love and blessings to you and your family.

One more thing beautiful Susan. Drinking coffee doesn’t have to be all or nothing. About 3 times a year when I am going to have a trip where I will change multiple time zones, I ween myself off of caffeinated coffee over 2 to 3 weeks.
I start by limiting myself to 1 or 2 coffees only in the morning. Afterward if I would like a coffee that day I go to decaf. Once I am comfortable with only 1 cup in the morning, I start shifting the mixture of coffee to 7/8th caffeinated with 1/8 decaf for a few days and then I continue to change the ratio until it is all decaf. I stay with decaf until I have arrived at the destination with the time zone difference. Then I use caffeine to help me adjust.

Normally I still enjoy 1 cup of coffee in the morning and then 1 cup of green tea. I continue to use the same green tea leaves and add hot water to be my drinking water during the day. I learned this technique from China.

Continue to be kind to yourself! You are amazing and have been so kind to share your vulnerability with all of us in the public so that we can be motivated to be better people.
    With Kind Regards

I wish you had been around 50 years ago when I was so sick with bulemia and a full fledged, incapacitating eating obsession. Jean Neidich came into my life which brought a consciousness and fellowship. It probably saved my life and allowed me to study my body functions intimately. That brought me to Macrobiotics….which I have practiced successfully since 1970 and worked extensively with cancer patients. As an RN I am exceedingly aware of the value of food quality and good health. I am approaching my 80th year and swim, teach yoga, and have perfect health…I just forget to eat sometimes…I lectured with Christiane Northrop, worked with her patients in my early MB years and taught cooking all over Maine. Now, imagine, with no cravings,
I forget to eat. What will happen when your Bright Lifers get too thin?

I have been following BLE since September 23, 2019 and have been good until yesterday when my saboteur kidnapped me and before I knew it, I was ingesting NMF (just one piece)!!! But I am not starting at day one, I am rezooming. I don’t feel as bad as I would still be following a punishing 12 step program where I had to start all over again. I am NOT starting again, I am continuing on the wonderful journey of BLE. My food plan has not been thrown down the drain by a mistake. I am back on track and feeling like I learned a lesson. Great blog. THANK YOU. My BLE program is strong as a crystal vaser on day 135. Keeping an eye on not becoming overconfident. Working the rituals which keeps me sane. Your words: identity, program, truthfulness are hugely important to me as I review my WOOP goals and Stickk commitments today. Yes, too many, too vague, too big. IDENTITY CHANGE to the top today: change my belif system around prosperity. Program starting today: Unlock abundance energy by Master Valley (have been thinking about it for months!). Truth: My identity around money is a creation of a part of me that needs to start healing, today. New identity sought: I am prosperous and loving it.

Thank you for this remainder. we are not perfect nor expect to be.
Sadly this is not the beginning of a new decade yet, new decade will start on 01-01-2021 understanding that the numbers begin on 1 and end in 0, that being said I will practice my journaling and stick to my lines so I can achieve that integrity change through committing to this effective process you created on BLE.
    THANK YOU for this, really.
Happy, Bright, Thin and especially free 2020!

      Hi Guilla!

You’ll notice you’re not alone in feeling that 2021 is the start of the decade! Susan talked about this previously and there are technical arguments on both sides. It isn’t the technicality that matters, it’s how it FEELS. 2020 feels like the start of a new decade and many public sources have been talking about it that way, including Susan. Wishing you all the best in 2020 (and 2021)! 😉 🧡🧡🧡
