I’m unsubscribed from Facebook. And I don’t do Twitter or Instagram. Can I still be involved the Official BLE Community?

      Hi Joseph in Missoula,

Our new online community is hosted by Facebook, so a Facebook account would be required in order to access the community. Since that won’t work for you, definitely make sure to stay involved in the community through the website, emails, and the weekly vlog. <3

You could consider creating a FB profile that is basically private, no friends, and you can become part of this group.

Oh goody, another facebook group…not. You call the BLE Community a cornerstone of the program, so when are you going to move off of a third party platform with questionable business and privacy practices? Not to mention that social media is built to be addictive and its usage has been found to lead to anxiety and depression. Doesn’t sound like “happy” or “free” to me. Sorry to be a nay-sayer, but I quit FB a while ago for these very reasons and am still hoping for the day when BLE offers another option.

Happy, thin and free is the tagline for the BLE program, not FB. Hard to do much with this kind of a business without social media these days.

Adding to this chorus – I’m saddened that you’re still excluding those of us who can’t use Facebook in good conscience, nor recommend it to others. (Including the gobs of people who ask me how I lost 100+ pounds!)

You are unnecessarily excluding a lot of people here.

If you have enough resources to support these communities, you almost certainly have enough resources to rent some server space and run your own forum or Facebook-style community. It’s not particularly difficult or expensive. I’m just a mid-level software developer (with a mere 3 years’ experience), and I’m pretty sure I could set it up myself in a couple of months full-time, and maintain it part-time.

We hear you! We have many avenues and ways to do BLE and hope one of the others will fit your needs and preferences better. Please stay informed, educated, and connected through the book, vlog, website, webinars, emails, and videos. We appreciate all of your feedback! <3

Possibly consider an email and FB id that is “private”, no friends, but gives you access to this group. Platforms are expensive, and FB is available. I share this as I’m mainly a part of FB for groups, and the rare friend comment.

Its an old tale of a clever business person who offered meals for free, but salted them so heavily that customers bought so many drinks that he earned more than he would have with the meal. Facebook is like that.It is expensive.

I have considered this. However, I signed up with my regular fb page. I am limiting my use of that page, but was disturbed when pictures I posted (before-after, progress pictures) only for BLE group showed up on my facebook pictures – went in and deleted posts and pictures from BLE pages. Pictures show up and disappear on my fb profile page – creepy, those are pictures I never would have shared on my fb page – it was only for my bootcamp and bright lifer groups.
So if I create another fb page that is “private” as you say, separate from my other fb page, what happens to all my other BLE info. Do I have to start over? Will fb allow us to do this.
I am inactive due to health and trauma issues, but still hoping to restart BLE. Been to depressed to participate for awhile.
        Thank you for your help.

Hiya, I clicked the link, but it says the URL can’t be found because of a “content blocker” …..no idea what that means ?

Any thoughts, I’m in the UK if that has any bearing on anything ?

Just finished my first week of the 2 weeks challenge. Stuck like glue to the plan and lost a measly 1lb , ! I’m beginning to feel really full, do I have to eat everything? Is it best to cut down on protein or veggies and fruit?

I have just the 110 lbs to lose ! so no worries just yet, I’ll just keep going 😊
    Thanks for your help. xx

Hi Lorainne! You’re doing great! Not sure why you got that alert, but here’s a direct link to the group that you can try: https://www.facebook.com/groups/brightlineeatingofficial/. You can also search “Bright Line Eating Official” in the search bar on Facebook.

Regarding fullness: many people experience that because they are switching from grazing all day to eating three, bountiful meals each day and it’s a bit of a turn. Consider heavier vegetables. For example eating 5 ounces of carrots is much different than eating 5 ounces of greens. 😉 (That would be quite a pile of greens!). Artichokes, jicama, peppers, carrots, tomatoes. They all carry a heavy punch. Also, don’t make yourself sick. If you need to be done, be done, but realize it is already a low-calorie food plan and it may cause you to be hungry soon. Keep it up friend! We’re cheering for you! <3

Hi Nina! Bright Lifers remains unchanged! Bright Lifers and Bright Line Eating Official are very different communities. You’ll still be in the small, intimate group with Susan, have the accountability calls, the coaching calls, Gideon Games, and all of your Bright Lifers’ perks.

Our new community is a large group open to any and all who are interested in BLE or living BLE. It won’t have any of those extra benefits mentioned above. You are more than welcome to participate in both to see what you think! <3

Happy for you and the group. I have been a bright lifer for the past three yrs and still justifying continuing as for many of the reasons stated by others above regarding the use of certain social media (particularly FB), I don’t do facebook or other social media for security and other privacy /data tracking concern, so joining yet another “public tracking site ” is not available to me given my profession nor do I choose it.

Love it! BLE is offered in many ways. There is a vlog, there is a challenge, there are the facebook bases, there is a book…….. If you don’t do fb, then you have the other avenues. No problem. If you decide you DO want to take advantage of the camaraderie associated with the bootcamp, then it is available for you. If not, then use the other avenues. It has been made simple and available and inexpensive. It is an incredibly valuable and well thought out and well executed program that has no rival. It is a super toolchest that is full of tools. Use it! Love it! and practice your gratitude along the way! I’m just sayin’….

I think the new FB group should be private- not open. Many people do not want to comment or post in a group that is public. There has been a good bit of discussion about this issue in the “we eat bright with lines” FB group. This is a very personal issue and most want to keep it that way. I understand that by making it private, it would not help your mission to grow BLE, but lots of people won’t join or will join but not post or comment.

I’m a little leery of joining this. When I joined the open Facebook communities before my phone started binging literally 24 / 7. I would get up and there be 50 to 100 messages or better every morning. And I also want to know how secure this site is if its open to the whole world. I’m not the biggest fan of social media. On my regular Facebook page I have 45 friends, and have trouble keeping up with them.

I turn off all notifications for FB so no RED CIRCLE demanding my attention – I do this for all but a few apps! I only view FB when someone asks me to go look at their post, or I want to visit a CLOSED group. I rarely post or comment. I’m a caller, texter and enjoy quietness 🙂

I was so excited when I heard this announcement and thought that you were opening a new website where we could all interact – outside of Facebook. It would be a way for those who aren’t into FB to get connected and participate. But I see it’s just another FB house. Oh well.

I hate FB, hate the ads, privacy issues, hacking and everything. I have two companies that I deal with that ONLY do FB… I have no friends, all security set to the maximum and STILL FB trolls through my computer and is very intrusive. I rarely post or connect through FB and stopped doing the Gideon Games because of it, too.

I will NOT be renewing BLifers when it’s due next year because of this issue.

So, I won’t be joining the NEW group nor sending anyone to it, either. I tell them about the book and the 14 day challenge, but I can’t in good conscience tell people about the BCs because of the FB issue, even if they are on FB.

Please look into doing something (ANYTHING) else that’s more secure and less Big Brother…

I see the group is PUBLIC. For me, BLE Official too intimate to be public, even the first questions I want to share only those aware and interested in BLE, not a surfer seeing details randomly… I’ll view and follow though. And appreciate the staff stepping up without being asked.

I think this is great… for those who don’t mind using FB. I’m one of those who don’t mind… but I won’t get into THAT topic. Thank you for doing this… especially for those who can’t afford one of the many paid plans. It’s great to know they can still connect with the BLE community for support. You’ve helped so many people, SPT, and should be proud of all your hard work. Thanks to your team, as well. 🙂

NO THANK-YOU. I’ll wait until you wise up and start using your own servers. No Facebook for me. I was leery of FB to start with, but joined to be part of my Boot Camp House, and then Lifers, but the stench that FB is finally got to me and I left. FB is a dangerous, disingenuous influencing and marketing platform that has a very, very dark underbelly. They say they don’t, but they (and Google) sell your information., and when FB isn’t selling your information, they are busy trying to get into your head. For those of you who don’t realize…Google is an advertising company that just happens to have made itself into the world’s largest search engine. Ditto for YouTube (2nd largest) and Facebook. That’s what pays for the massive “free” service that Facebook is…and Instagram, and WhatsAp, both of which are owned by Facebook. The only real way to deal with these tech giants is to cut them off at the pockets…stop using them…and stop being complicit in our own loss of privacy and intrusion.

Yes, Google follows everything you look at online. Ever noticed how the ads that pop are for something
you looked at online. The only Social Media thing I use is Next-door and I had to register. But I do not see ads on it and I get all kinds of helpful information. I comment on things and private message others.
I wonder if BLE could be a neighborhood?

I truly love this idea and immediately joined the Facebook group! However, To my surprise, my friend told me a mutual friend had asked her if I’m trying to lose weight because she saw some Comments I made on a BLE page on Facebook. (This person does not follow the page.) It just made me wonder how many other people saw my posts and it made me not want to post intimate/heartfelt experiential comments on the page since it’s a public page. Can it be changed to a private page, yet still be open to all? Again, I love the idea of a huge sharing community, all supporting one another, but I also don’t want everyone on my Facebook to know my battles with weight loss.

If it is A “Public ” facebook then people should be able to look at it without having a Facebook Account.
There are ones I look at all the time and I am not on Facebook. I cannot post but I can read the comments.
