The Tap on the Shoulder

I recently had a spiritual experience that could very well shift my future in a pretty drastic way. Watch the vlog to hear about it and how it relates to your Bright Line Eating journey.

Thank you! I still listen to your vlogs and I still struggle to develop positive eating perspectives. What was once a dragon to fight now feels more lime more hills to climb. You are one of my pillars. I am grateful for you.

    hi Susan–
Just curious: are you still a professor at University of Rochester? Or were you involved in research, not teaching? What happened with that opportunity? Of course, you don’t have to answer this if you would rather not, just thought I would ask.

P.S. Tomorrow is one year anniversary of reaching my goal weight. I have been going up and down, usually no more than four or five lb. Today I weighed 4.6 lb more than my lowest weight, but I want to “reboot” to that lowest point, even though I think it might be a tad too thin for me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I started on this journey almost two years ago. I did well and then I didn’t. Story of my life. However, I have learned that I am a rebel. Something I didn’t ever want to admit. Fighting against being told what to do. Fighting against letting go. Fighting. I am a “lucky” person and do follow first thought (intuition), which I believe is divine. And, I thank you for encouraging me to stay open, to stay present, to leave space and be centered. The reason for being able to follow first thought and at the same time not following direction (even when it is so obviously good for me) from others or even myself is a mystery that I must unravel. In the meantime, I listen to your vlogs, get inspired and pick up where I left off. Time to walk again.

Loved this. Spine tingled at beginning because at certain times in my life, I’ve had that tap – including when I first saw a video introducing BLE and I knew I had to join!

    Thank you Susan!

One of your best vlogs ever for me! I so believe you are right in listening and opening to whatever shows up for you. That is how I found you! I doubted so much the truths you shared, but I sincerely know they are true. I am not yet totally following all BLE ways, but my life has already changed just adapting and trusting timing to move forward as it works for me. My story isn’t as important as the fact that I listened and found you! Keep sharing and listening! THANK YOU!

Thank you for this! In 2016 October 1st I heard a woman say “no sugar, no flour” on a podcast, no sugar, no flour since October 2nd 2016. I had to wait for the 14 Day Challenge and the book launch to learn about the quantities, but it’s so reassuring hearing you talk about this dance with the universe. Sometimes I get superstitious, is it ok to talk about these subtle messages? I guess an overall trust is the answer. Love to the whole community!

Thanks Dear Susan, I would say that I would have never bought into the Bright Line Eating journey without being first introduced to the book. The book allowed me to cover the material without any commitment and digest it until it made sense. Subsequently, Boot cam followed after 5 months and I will be crossing 2 years BLE in Late May. Thanks for listening to your shoulder tap. Love the program and all the tribe yjat is being blessed each day with renewed vibrance.

I so get the tap on the shoulder and find myself pondering and investigating what it might mean or if there is action I should take. Sometimes it doesn’t make any sense and sometimes it seems like a bit of wisdom from above to follow.

Susan! Maybe it’s time now to contact Oprah again. If she struggles with Weight Watchers as what usually happens over time with it, she might be ready now, and you have since made such a big impression in the world you will have a much louder voice to call her in, She really might find you have something huge to offer her. Here’s my tap on your shoulder–try contacting her again, now the time is right!

Very interesting. I once woke suddenly in the night hearing a loud voice say, “Don’t wait! Get a mammogram NOW! I was six months away from my annual mammogram, but I heeded the voice and got one right away. It turned out I had breast cancer, an aggressive form. If I had waited until my regular mammogram I would have been in trouble. As it turned out, surgery and radiation eliminated the cancer, and I am still fine 16 years later. Your comment that lucky people are ones who paid attention to intuition – well, that certainly applies to me!

Thank you for this reminder. I have had those taps–one when I saw my now-husband helping out at my artsy-fartsy liberal hippie Methodist church; one that got me to that church, which is where I found my first inspiration in someone who was already sober; and one the night that I was laying face-down on a bunk in my local county jail that said YOU HAVE TO GET SOBER NOW OR YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE EVERYTHING YOU LOVE. One day at a time, always, that was my last drink and my last drunk (although it by far wasn’t my last carb binge). Love this vlog. Thanks for sharing!

As a former Weight Watchers employee for over 20 years (recording scale weigh-ins, etc), it was a fun job and I kept myself in
trim, but also enjoy BLE immensely, having been a boot camper, and now a member of certain groups, am even more
successful with Susan’s no sugar, flour, 3 meals per day, no in-betweens. And happy with the tap on the shoulder when I first
came across one of Susan’s presentations which I immediately obeyed and joined BLE! Have never regretted that shoulder
tap. Love Susan, her book, her vlogs, the rezoom program. Her solid encouragement is priceless.

Thanks for the vlog. It’s something to ponder. Currently excited to be pursuing some new ambitions after several years of being too stressed and overtaxed to do more than get by. I’m finding it hard to let go of old dreams that have grown into burdens. Although I know that intuitively, conventional wisdom is to not let go of something of value (a profession). And I wonder about the inspirations that came, but for whatever reason, I did not act on at the time? Seasons of life and timing does matter, and I find myself reorganizing my priorities and noticing that some old dreams no longer matter to me, but new ones have come along.

So sorry to hear of your troubles, Janice, but there is a lesson to be learned through our hardships too. What is the lesson you are learning? Consider writing in your journal. Consider asking yourself, “How do I want to feel tomorrow?” There are also many ways to eat veggies! If you don’t care for them raw, try roasting them with some herbs and 0.5 oz of olive oil or try some different salad combinations. Perhaps you can go to a specialty market and find some new vegetables to try that are new to you. Take it one day at a time, friend. <3

Hi Susan love this vlog. I was in RBRZ because it’s the first thing I could commit to having my own system of bright line respect and eating. And I enjoyed the company very much. I am deeply connected to my intuition. It has guided me as a obgyn doctor many times and saved so many situations that could have been bad. Only in the rare situations where I didn’t listen things went wrong. I even have a song about it. Knocking Karma, I call it.
And also I’m a totally happy person most of the time and spreading the happy energy. How great you do what you do, since I lost 25 kilos only by listening to the weekly vlog and the food freedom videos and creating my own system of committement. Thanks for being you!

I loved this vlog. I have also experienced taps on the shoulder that I received in different ways. I don’t know how many I missed or didn’t pay attention to, but I’ve had extraordinary results from paying attention and opening to the flow. I’ve changed careers, made some major moves, walked across the country and retired in the perfect place simply from being open to things that made no sense in my “plan” of what will happen. Thanks for talking about it.
Oh, and BTW, I’m on Day 274 of BLE and at goal weight because a FB friend who I hadn’t talked to in a year posted something about one of your webinars. I’ve tried to contact her several times since then to thank her and find out if she is participating. She hasn’t responded. So she is now a person who has had a major impact on my life and she doesn’t know it. I have a feeling that she is not ready for the journey, but I may hear from her when she is. We’ll see.

I’ve had a few of those “Taps on the Shoulder” too. One winter in Maine when I was a teenager, I was driving too fast on a snowy, icy, back road when my car went out of control and slide across the road. I literally heard a voice that said, “Let go of the wheel.” Instinctively, I did. My car slid up on a snow bank. I was at a 45-degree angle with the road when the car stopped. I looked out my window and I was inches away from a telephone pole. My car was undamaged and I was alive and well. Had I not listened and heeded would I have been wrapped around the pole? I’m pretty sure I would have. Many years later and some other taps later, I went to a lecture by a man, Marshall Vian Summers, who talked about developing this capability to connect with “the tapper”. His book, Steps to Knowledge, The Book of Inner Knowing, changed my life.

Dear Susan, I so appreciate your use of the metaphor “Universe.” As a Christian minister, I have spent my life trying to find ways to express our deep connection with the divine in language that is truly universal (and even feminine). This opens the door for people of all faiths, or no faith, to walk through with no preconceived notions or judgements about the way their intuition may receive the grace of those shoulder taps. I am so grateful for the healing power that BLE is in my life today. You are a wise, inspired woman! Thank you.
